MASSIVE Toyota Engine Recall for 2022-2023 Tundra

A total of 102,092 Toyotas are involved in the recall: 3,524 LX600s and 98,568 Tundras. The issue lies in manufacturing-related debris that was not adequately removed from the engine throughout the cleaning procedure. As you can probably imagine, any debris in an engine is terrible, and this particular debris is bad enough to cause the crankshaft's primary bearings to fail. This is being recalled because it may cause some clear-cut safety hazards if it occurs while you're driving. Thankfully, Toyota is not aware of any accidents linked to the issue. However, 824 engine warranty claims that may be related to the problem are listed in recall materials.

When the recall was issued, Toyota stated a remedy was being investigated. Now, Toyota says they will replace the engine "for all involved vehicles" at no charge to owners. The recall applies to Tundras built from November 2, 2021 through February 13, 2023.

This is not the first Toyota Tundra recall - a few months ago we wrote about problematic transmissions in certain Tundra vehicles. What’s going on at Toyota?
