KIA Telluride Power Seat Motor Fire Recall Forces Outside Parking

463,000 SUVs are involved in a 2020–2024 Kia Telluride power seat motor recall; until the Tellurides are fixed, they should be parked outside and away from anything that could catch fire.

Six melting occurrences and at least one fire under the Telluride front power seats are known to Kia.

Kia claims that a jammed power seat slide knob can cause the Telluride front power seat motor to overheat. When the Telluride is parked or being driven, melting or a fire may break out.

Kia got two reports regarding smoke coming from behind the driver's seat of a 2022 Telluride and a burning smell coming from the passenger seat of a 2022 Telluride in December 2022.

A 2023 Telluride driver's seat was the source of smoke, according to another complaint. Upon investigation, engineers discovered evidence of an overheated seat tilt motor that had melted at the connector.

By March 2024, Kia discovered that malfunctioning knobs and stuck seat switches were caused by outside forces, which kept the power seat motors running.

Additionally, a 2023 Telluride's "driver seat caught on fire while driving" occurred in March, albeit with no injuries reported.
