Toyota Recalls 280,000 Vehicles Over Transmission Issue

On Wednesday, Toyota made the announcement that it was recalling around 280,000 Tundra, Sequoia, and Lexus LX 600 automobiles due to a transmission issue that might cause the vehicles to roll forward when in neutral.

Certain Lexus LX 600 SUVs and Toyota Tundra pickup trucks from the 2022–2024 model years are included in the recall. The Toyota Sequoia SUVs from 2023 and 2024 are also included.

Toyota announced that when the cars are put in neutral, some components of the automatic transmissions might not disengage right away. That has the potential to provide the wheels some engine power. If the brakes are not engaged, the cars may creep forward at slow speeds on flat terrain, raising the possibility of a collision.

No word on whether there have been any collisions or injuries.
