Another Chevrolet Bolt Recall - California Lemon Law
Readers of this blog know that I’ve been writing about the Chevrolet Bolt for more than 4 years now, even before the massive recalls and fire dangers. Despite General Motors' efforts over the years, Chevy Bolt battery fires continue to be a problem.
This most recent recall of roughly 110 Bolt EVs and Bolt EUVs, which was first announced in August 2021, serves as evidence.
Chevrolet Bolts manufactured between 2020 and 2022 are being recalled due to potentially defective diagnostic software that can cause batteries to catch fire. According to GM, when the battery is almost or completely charged, a Bolt may catch fire.
General Motors now says to “"Set the Target Charge Level feature in their vehicle to limit the charge level to 90%, charge their vehicle more frequently, avoid depleting the battery to 70 miles range remaining, park outside after charging, and do not charge the vehicle indoors overnight."
Chevy Bolt battery fire recall letters will be mailed December 16, 2024, and dealers will again install advanced diagnostic software.

The Chevrolet Bolt battery fire recall number for this recall is N242470160.
