GM to recall more than 461,000 vehicles over transmission issues, NHTSA says
On Wednesday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that General Motors would be recalling 461,839 cars due to a transmission problem.
Several 2020–2022 Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, 2021 Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Tahoe, and GMC Yukon models are among those affected by the recall.
According to the NHTSA, the affected vehicles' gearbox control valve may malfunction, locking up the back wheels and raising the possibility of an accident.
In order to resolve the problem, GM will offer a special coverage program for fixing gearboxes found to have a malfunctioning control valve, and dealers will install a new transmission control module software at no cost.
Additionally, GM requested that its dealers immediately halt the distribution of the impacted cars, also known as a “stop sale”
