GM Releases Repair For 2023 Chevy Colorado Fuel Injector Issue
A service update from GM describes a remedy that is currently available for 2023 Chevy Colorado pickup vehicles that have an engine control module (ECM) issue that may cause the fuel injector flow to be inaccurate.
If left unfixed, the ECM issue may result in incorrect fuel injector flow rate management under specific driving conditions, which might cause problems for the engine to operate poorly in impacted 2023 Chevy Colorados.
The 2023 Chevy Colorado pickups with the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L2R and the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engines in Turbo Plus tune are affected by the ECM problem.
Before doing any repairs on a Colorado unit, GM advises dealers to see if it is included in the service update. The Investigate Vehicle History screen—which may be accessed via The General's Global Warranty Management system—designates affected trucks as "Open." The 2023 Chevy Colorado vehicles that are currently in dealership stock as well as those that customers bring in for whatever reason will both need to have the remedy implemented.
The fix doesn't need any parts. Rather, the engine control module is reprogrammed with the appropriate fuel injector flow rate to do the task. The entire process of reprogramming and calibrating the ECM takes roughly thirty minutes of labor.
The owners of 2023 Chevy Colorado pickups that are impacted are eligible for a free remedy. This service bulletin is valid until the pickup's New Vehicle Limited Warranty expires, at which point it becomes obsolete.
