2023 - 2024 Honda HR-V Recall: Front seat belt missing rivet
Honda is recalling over 300,000 2023-2024 Accord sedans and HR-V SUVs because the front seat belt could possibly be missing the rivet that connects the quick connector and wire plate. This complication does not comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 208, "Occupant Crash Protection," 209, "Seat Belt Assembles," and 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages" according to a NHTSA report.
The cause of the problem is simple. Honda says installation of the rivet was skipped during assembly.
Honda received the first complaint in May and opened an investigation by collecting the affected parts.
Honda expects to mail pretensioner recall letters January 8, 2024, and dealers will inspect and possibly replace the front seat belt pretensioner assemblies.
Honda Accord and Honda HR-V owners with questions should call 888-234-2138.
Honda's recall numbers are MG7 and NG5.
