Huge Hyundai / Kia Oil Consumption Class Action Filed
A Hyundai / Kia oil consumption class action lawsuit alleges nearly all their models are equipped with defective Gamma, Theta, Nu, Lambda and Kappa engines.
Owners say a Hyundai oil consumption recall should have been ordered because the engines allegedly use excessive amounts of oil, stall and eventually fail. What stands out here is how widespread the oil consumption problem is and how long it has apparently taken place.
The class action, filed in California, alleges that owners believe that they should not have to check their vehicle’s oil level as frequently as suggested by some dealerships. Dealerships recommendations are greater than what is indicated in the owner’s manual, which is the standard that is typically used. The Hyundai class action also says too much oil will strain and damage the gaskets and seals protecting the engine which leads to oil leaks (very similar to the Chevrolet Equinox / GMC Terrain Oil Consumption cases).
