Electrical System Problems:
“The contact owns a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds with the ONSTAR/GPS, turn-by-turn driving directions activated, there was an unknown notification flashing on the instrument panel and radio. The speedometer was obstructed and failed to work as needed. The screen sporadically went blank. While depressing the dismiss button on the steering wheel, the button failed to correct the failure. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the system was rebooted; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer and the contact was informed to turn off the vehicle, open the door, and then restart the vehicle to reboot the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer, Bill Cramer Chevrolet Buick GMC (2251 W 23rd St, Panama City, FL 32405) but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 10,450.”
“My truck’s battery is dead after sitting for a few days. There is a manufacturing deficit causing parasitic draw. This is a safety issue because it leaves us stranded after parking the vehicle for a few days. The General Motors dealership refuses to do it anything about it. They claim it’s normal.”
“The contact owns a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the dashboard gauges, instrument cluster, and infotainment center malfunctioned and became inoperable. Additionally, while starting the vehicle, there was a loud cranking sound coming from the engine compartment and the vehicle would not immediately start. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, but the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 100.”
Suspension and Steering Concerns:
“On 22 December 2020, I received a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT X31 Truck. The day that I drove it I notice that the Truck was riding as though it had a low Tire issue. It was riding bouncy. I had no low tire light. I checked the Tire Pressure and they all was over inflated. I brought the pressure back to range, but the Truck was riding the same over rough and bumpy roads that the rear end of the Vehicle was shifting from side too side when you hit a bumpy or on rough roads. it felt like the rear end was coming off the ground very frighten. I called GM they assigned a case number and I took the Truck to Three dealership with the same answer that all bolts were tighten to Spec. Ok I get that, but did not address the problem that the truck is doing. I am not comfortable driving this truck especially when you have no I deal when your terrain will change and the back end of your Vehicle moves from side to sider on you.”
“I start my car and I went to pull off and the steering wheel locked up and I couldn’t turn it and it was just stuck going to sit power steering EC something. And then came home parked the car few days later try driving it and then the ABS brake light came on warning me not to go over 65 mph and my brakes pad feel really loose now.”
“I took my truck to the dealership because of my issues and they said they had many trucks going in with the same issue but there was no fix to it. The issues Popping Noise Heard On Hard Turns and/or Going Over Speed Bumps, Creaking Noise While Turning Wheel Left and/or Right, Clicking Noise Heard On Slow Sharp Turns. Also when you go over a bump the truck makes a spring loud noise to the point that the whole truck bounces. shifter is also very hard when you try to change gears.”
“The contact owns a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while the vehicle was standstill, the steering wheel seized. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The contact was instructed by the dealer, to remove the ground cable from the battery and reinstall. The contact stated he was able to reboot and the steering wheel was able to move properly. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.”
Powertrain Problems:
“Transmission shifting is at times confused causing the vehicle to jump forward shifting to first gear. It pushes your vehicle 2-5 miles an hr faster when slowing down. The transmission also does the opposite when letting off the accelerator, shifting fast to a lower gear slowing the vehicle down quickly in a jerking motion at times. I have an 8 speed transmission. GMC dealer is replacing my torque converter, stating this may fix the issue, but it is a safety concern.”
“When shifting into drive after reversing, truck will occasionally do a small thud and hesitate to move forward. This is from a stopped position after reversing, then braking, putting the truck into drive, then it happens when starting to move forward at very low speeds (I would say about 1-2mph). Vehicles recovers quickly, however it seems like a transmission mount or something may have issues. If another car were coming up quickly, or started going expecting you to start moving, the delay the thud and hesitation causes may be enough to cause a minor incident (assuming no high speed traffic coming up behind someone as they reversed out). This issue does NOT occur every time. I have owned the truck for 4 months, and it has happened only about 4-5 times in total.”
“TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD WHEN SHIFTING UP AND WHEN DOWNSHIFTING. VEHICLE JERKS WHEN GOING SPEEDS <40 AFTER COMING OFF HIGHWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS >70.”
