“2018 Durango GT purchased at 30k miles and the oil pan gasket was already worn and leaking oil. Tensioner and pulley also failed. Seems like Mopar utilize low quality parts in general, as minor as they may seem they are vital for me to operate my vehicle safely.”
“Doing some checking problems with this particular vehicle it seems that the water pump/ radiator has problems. My vehicle has a antifreeze leak when at idle leaving a stream in the driveway. Thus causing a problem for pets and wildlife. The engine warning light has come on. The a/c compressor makes a noise also. FYI.”
“MY CAR IS A DODGE DURANGO SRT8, YEAR 2018 , VIN# [XXX], WITH ONLY 20,000 MILES AND THE ENGINE TRANSMISSION BROKE. IT IS UNDER GUARANTEE AND THE DEALER HAS BEING COMPLIANT. I AM AFRAID THAT IN THE WEB MEDIA MORE OWNERS WITH THE SAME ENGINE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE AS ME. Seats Problems:
“The contact's wife owns a 2018 Dodge Durango. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the headrest deployed inadvertently and struck the contact in the back of the head. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road for a moment. There was no injury sustained. The dealer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that they could not assist since the VIN was not included in an unknown recall and the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 76,050.”
“The active headrest restraint deployed in the vehicle with no collision. It deployed randomly. It looks like there is a broken part inside the headrest. I just bought the car. I have complained to the dealer because it wasn't like that when I test drove it but I saw it after I bought it and was driving it home. Could have happened during the final detailing.”

“TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE VEHICLE, THE GEAR SHIFT BECAME STUCK IN THE NEUTRAL POSITION. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT MADE MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE OUT OF NEUTRAL, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V280000(POWER TRAIN), BUT THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL. HELFMAN DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM FIAT (7720 KATY FWY, SUITE A, HOUSTON, TX 77024, (713) 533-6100) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA TO HAVE THE VEHICLE ADDED TO THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,080.”
“A FEW DAYS AFTER THE PURCHASE THE CAR FELT A STRONG BLOW IN THE TRANSMISSION WHEN GOING FROM PARKING TO D OR FROM THE PARKING TO R. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND AFTER A SIMPLE INSPECTION THEY SAID THEY DID NOT FIND ANYTHING I THINK I'LL TAKE IT WHEN I HAVE THE FIRST MAINTENANCE AND TELL THEM TO GO BACK TO REVIEW SINCE IT IS DOING IT MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY.”
Electrical System Problems:
“I noticed a small air bubble appear on screen. Thought nothing of it until my screen started taping on things on its own. Changing the air, calling random people, changing the radio station, folds down the headrest for the back seats and exiting out of my maps for directions. This is know as ghost touches. I’ve spoke to multiple people who have had the same problems with their durangos. This is very very distracting.”
“My touchscreen is malfunctioning. It does what it wants when it wants. Example- it makes my headrest flip up and down Turns the radio stations Turns the heat/air on/off Turns the heated/cooling seats on/off Backup camera doesn’t work half the time I backed into a dirt embankment and cracked my rear bumper because the backup camera wasn’t working at that time Navigation doesn’t work half the time Volume works when it wants Can’t change radio stations sometimes”
“They connect system shuts off randomly impacting the heating and air conditioning. It begins turning on and off distractingly on its own unable to access any features. Disabling use of the back up cameras, heating, navigation, radio or controls of volume.”
Brakes Problems:
“The vehicle braking system will start alerting the driver to brake when not necessary. Alarm will sound in the vehicle, and Dashboard will start flashing "BRAKE" multiple times. it did break automatically once while driving, children were present in the vehicle. I am concerned if the vehicle brakes on it own it cause an accident. FCA has sent out a notice that our vehicle VIN is not one that is effected but we are having the same problems.”
“OUR DODGE DURANGO GT, HAS DEVELOPED A LOUD POP SOUND WHEN COMING TO A FULL STOP. I TOOK IT TO ANCIRA DODGE IN SAN ANTONIO, THEY ADVISED ME THE CALIPERS ARE HITTING BRAKE PADS AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND DODGE AGAIN DOES NOT WANT TO HELP. OUR TRUCK HAS BARELY 21,787 MILES AND I'M HAVING SO MANY ISSUES WITH THIS DEFECTIVE VEHICLE.”
