Common Problems with the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica

2019 chrysler pacifica problems

Powertrain, Transmission Issues:

“This Pacifica shifted hard from 1st to 2nd gear about a month ago. We were driving 75 mph and then the vehicle lost all power on the interstate. Had to shut the car off and turn it back on before I continue on my way.”

“The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while stopped on an incline, the vehicle hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact restarted the vehicle and the failure recurred while reversing. The contact restarted the vehicle however, the failure persisted after shifting to drive(D). The lights on the gear shifter started to flash with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact restarted the vehicle and drove to the residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not under recall or covered under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.”

“When the vehicle is preparing to shift gears it almost stops like it is going to stall, then when it finally does shift gears the entire car jolts. It started off only doing it occasionally but now does this multiple times in a short 15 minute drive.”

Electrical System Problems:

“The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle lost power steering assist functionality. The instrument panel displayed a message that the Auto START/STOP system had malfunctioned. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who had not yet diagnosed the vehicle. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V348000 (Electrical System). The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000.”

“On rare occasion, but enough to be concerning, the rear backup camera image will not remove from the screen after putting the van in Drive from Reverse. The last image will freeze on the screen and nothing can be done to clear the screen but stop the vehicle, turn it off fully, and then restart. Not only is it confusing to the driver to still see a non-realtime image of the back of the vehicle, any and all controls are locked out from the main infotainment screen. This has not be replicated at the dealer as it's unpredictable and somewhat infrequent. But given that there are times a full reboot of the van isn't possible (highway driving), this could be a major safety issue. No warnings are given or report from the vehicle.”

“The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while driving the vehicle at an undisclosed speed, the electrical system warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the auxiliary battery and main battery had failed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 55,540.”

Brake Problems:

“The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while his wife was driving at various speeds and depressing the brake pedal, the pedal went to the floorboard but failed to stop the vehicle. The driver heard an abnormal sound and continued to pump on the brake pedal until the vehicle stopped. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The driver was able to continue driving to her destination. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the brake line to be bled. The vehicle was repaired but his wife continued to experience the failure. The contact took the vehicle back to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the power brake booster to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.”

“When you come to a stop at a stop light and hold the brake it stiffens up and you start to roll forward. It has been a near death experience every time. So now at stop light i have to put the van in park, which afraid after doing for so long that will wear out.”

“When did I stop for a extended time the brake pedal will lose pressure the harder you push and the car starts moving you have to let up on the break and push it again sometimes you have to set the parking brake or the car will keep rolling”

Steering Problems:

“Yesterday, (12-22-2022) power steering stopped working while driving vehicle, pulled over and restarted the car and started driving again and once again the power steering stopped working but did make it home. Then this morning when backing out, the power steering stopped working, pulled back into the garage and parked. Called dealer for assistance, told they were closed until Monday.”

“2019 Chrysler Pacifica. Uncontrolled steering wheel. The consumer stated the steering wheel jumps to the left or right. The failure caused the consumer to crash into a large rock damaging the front end of the vehicle.”

Engine Problems:

“Leaked coolant into cylinder 6 at 47,090 miles. Head gasket replaced under warranty by dealer on 4/26/22. Currently experiencing cylinder 6 misfire, rough idling and using 16 oz coolant per month at 66,683 miles. Dealer recommended new head gasket and new head on 10/20/23.”

“The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, or while the vehicle was idling, the Auto START/STOP system light intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to Auto Zone to be diagnosed. The mechanic retrieved DTC codes: P0205 and P0305. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was previously taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the main wiring harness, ignition coil, and other unknown parts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 121,419.”

“The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would independently lurch forward and shake without warning. The contact linked the failure to an unknown recall however, the VIN tool showed no open recalls. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 77,000.”
