Common Problems with the 2019 Chevrolet Traverse
Transmission Issues — Shift To Park Message; Jerking.
Electrical Problems:
“Unknown what component is failing. When honking the horn, the radio station changes. It is available upon inspection. When the station changes to another station, at times the new station is a lot louder than the original station. This is distracting and causes the driver to look at the Entertainment Center and away from the road. This puts everyone in the vehicle at risk for an accident. Other drivers or pedestrians are risk for the same reason. The vehicle has been inspected several times by the dealership that sold us the vehicle who said they could not reproduce the error. No warnings appeared before nor as the error happens. This appeared within the first year of ownership.”
“Purchased 3/1/2019 problems since 4/18/2019 electrical system malfunctioning. Remote left in vehicle warning when no key in vehicle, rear view mirror overheating (over 110*) cellphone charging port overheating, blind spot detection malfunctioning, forward collision detection malfunctioning, navigation and iphone audio connections malfunctioning. Mirror was replaced once. Rear camera was replaced twice. This was after a GM service person was sent down to rotolo to look into it. Since then nothing has been repaired. Service reps keep saying they can't get it to duplicate the problems. We have video and photos of issues. Matt wolf was the GM investigator. He never returns calls/emails. Yesterday after several phone calls to different GM departments, I was informed he no longer works with the company. The last thing I was told was to wait for a call to bring the vehicle into rotolo so another GM service person would be sent. That was over 2 months ago. Since no one has called I scheduled another service for sat. Vehicle cannot be driven and has to sit parked. It is unsafe to drive. Problems ongoing since 4/2019.”
“The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would independently and intermittently brake as the ABS, power steering, traction control, and parking brake warning lights would illuminate on the instrument panel. The contact had taken the vehicle to dick wickstrom Chevrolet (555 E irving park rd, roselle, il 60172) where the vehicle remained for over a month. The dealer had yet to duplicate the failure and had offered to return the vehicle to the contact unrepaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that a diagnostic team would be sent to the dealer to have the vehicle inspected. The contact was then informed that the diagnostic team was also unable to diagnose or duplicate the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 11,000.”
Engine Problems:
“The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were flashing on and off. The vehicle restarted after approximately five minutes. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.”
“Back bracket on exhaust that is welded on has failed. The weld has failed causing a hole in the exhaust. This has happened at just 43K miles. There is already an extended warranty coverage on the front bracket on the 2019 Chevy Traverse.”
“Engine warning light came on along with traction control needs serviced. This happened when I started the Traverse and remained on. When I had a diagnostic test done the code read a code of 300. Dealer stated that code is for cylinder misfire not sure how many. Researched and found service update N192281810 that reads misfire due to carbon tracking released date of March 2019. It is the dealers responsibility to fix this during the service portion of the new vehicle limited warranty period. My vehicle is now past that and is misfiring and reading out this code. This should be a recall on all vehicles regardless of miles due to faulty coils, coil pack or spark plugs. In the above mentioned service update it states that this is an issue with several vehicles manufactured by GM. Ats, cts, camaro and Traverse. When doing further research there is not a way to find out if dealer did the service when GM sent out the service update. I looked back at all my records for services that the dealer done since I purchased the vehicle and see no indication that this service was performed.”
Seat Belts / Air Bags Problems:
“The backseat seatbelt is not working. When you insert the metal part of the seatbelt in the clip, it won't clip. You have to push the button numerous times then it clicks. However, I’m not sure if it’s safe enough to trust since it’s faulty at the insert. Also, the passenger seatbelt is faulty. When seatbelt is on, the seatbelt stays in a lock position and doesn’t loosen, it stays tight although brakes weren’t applied, to promote it to lock. I can send a video on both faulty seatbelts.”
“This is a 8 seat SUV. The second row center seat belt is not working - will not latch. This is caused because the buckle is positioned between the 60/40 moving seats. When people are in the third row seating area and the second row seats move forward to exit it crushes the buckle. After repeated crushes it now does not operate. The second row center seat person can not keep the seat belt latched and is not restrained.”
“My wife and I were t-boned in the front end of our 2019 Chevy Traverse. I am familiar with how airbags operate and the force necessary to activate the trigger switch. At the force we were hit, the airbags should have deployed. None of the airbags worked. The car that hit us was totaled. Their front end was completely demolished to the firewall and all airbags were deployed. Our car had $11,000 plus worth of front /side damage. Our bodies are recovering from injuries we should not have sustained if the airbags were functional. We will be contacting the dealer.”
“I have had two accidents in this vehicle and reported to GM that my air bags did not deploy each time. The first accident was almost $20,000 in damage. The second accident disabled my car on impact and smoke filled my car where the airbags were. We hit a large deer head on going 60mph on the interstate and I had my toddlers with me. GM said last accident there was no faulty airbags. They assure me my vin is not involved but due to the severity of the accident I believe otherwise”
