chevy traverse 2017 problems

Electrical Problems:

“For over two months now I have been dealing with GM as well as different dealerships and auto mechanics to try and repair a safety feature on my 2017 Chevy Traverse. I have been told by all of them the same issue or needing items replaced yet there are NO parts. They have been on back order for 1+ years with no ETA in sight. This is now causing the computer in the vehicle to malfunction to cause more damage that also cannot yet be repaired. New issue while driving my vehicle - the entire dash cluster goes black (all still tied to the same issue). Speedometer and all gauges drop to 0 (zero) as if the car was not running or turned on. After a few minutes it came back on with every single service/ error light on the dash. This happened 4 times in the span of half an hour drive. GM's aware and not backing their product or helping get parts to repair, yet I am out the money of the car and a car payment for a vehicle that is unsafe. What options do I have as a consumer" How are these safety features helping when they cannot be fixed, ordered, or repaired. Who's liable for this? Why can't this be recalled and corrected" There are many articles as well as service bulletins from GM about this known issue involving not only my year, make and model but also the Chevy Cruze, Impala, Acadia (N172097060 - Special Coverage - Side Blind Zone Alert Module Water Intrusion) and I would like to know how to file a claim, have this be investigated, and get the problem solved not out of my pocket so that I have a vehicle with features to keep me as well as other individuals safe on the road that I pay for. Why is it that GM is allowed to continue using these parts they know are faulty, and need a shield protector to protect against this exact problem but wont cover there own vehicle and product?”

“I had my charger plugged into the charge port and for no reason smoke started pouring out of it really bad while I had my kids in the car. Also my chevy link touch screen starting going in and out. My back up camera stopped working, my safety feature of the pre collision system stopped working. All of these things happened all at the same time. With all of these safety issues. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle or transporting my kids in it at this point because it appears to be a hazard to mine and my kids safety”

“The electrical in the car is bad. I know others with Chevrolets and are having the same issue. The power windows nor doors work on my passenger side with the key or door controls. Also their is a squeaking noise when braking in my brake pedal. With new pads and rotors the car don’t stop smoothly, feel vibration in the steering wheel. The car is already having an error for the EVAP canister purge control valve. The car isn’t that old to be needing to replace this already.”

Fuel/Propulsion System Problems:

“First problem is that the fuel gauge fluctuates. Second and most frightening, while I was drinking on wed. The 19th of July with my son, my Traverse completely shut off. I took it to the dealer that night, got it back the following Monday and was told that the problem couldn't be duplicated. I'm guessing this is the standard answer to these problems. It's not acceptable to me I that I know that this has been a previous issue with this vehicle. I am also frighteningly aware that there have been deaths caused by this. I am still driving the vehicle trusting that GM stand behind their vehicles as well as they technicians. Please, please fix this problem!! I am aware of the previous recalls on earlier Traverses and I want it to be known that this issue is in fact still an issue. A very serious issue!!!”

“When putting gas in my 2017 Traverse, when I go to crank it, it's takes a while to start and then when it does start, it idles really high. Sometimes if I'm at a complete stop, the engine just cuts off. Tonight when I was driving to the store with my family, the engine cuts off while driving in the middle of the road. This is really scary because I live in atlanta, ga and often take the highway and I'm afraid the engine will shut off in the middle of driving. This is very dangerous. I've called Chevy and I am waiting on a call back because I had to leave a voicemail. I looked for a recall and could not find any. This is very odd considering all of the people who are having the same issue.”

Steering Problems:

“The steering pump is faulty and the car only has 56,00o miles on it. I have read other people’s same issue on the internet. It is extremely dangerous because you cannot control the steering on the car and you could possibly injure yourself or someone else. 04/08/2023”

“The high pressure power steering lines in this vehicle are leaking due the proximity of the power steering lines to the coolant lines. Over time they rub against each other and eventually fail resulting in a loss of power steering fluid and a loss of power steering. GM has known about this since Technical Service Bulletin 13-02-32-001E was issued in December 2017, but has failed to notify the customer. This is a safety issue that GM needs to take care of.”

“Engine idle down coming off expressway power steering was hard to turn ran off the road. Drove car the rest of the way home steering was still hard to turn in either direction, check power steering fluid and found it to be”

Seat Belts / Air Bags Problems:

“1) Airbag Sensor went bad. 2) My safety and my family's safety is put at risk every day because the sensor went bad and now it turned my airbags off. 3) Yes I took my car on 9/17/21to a Chevy Dealer that confirmed the airbag sensor is bad they said its code B008. 4) It was inspected by a Chevy Dealer ship. 5) Yes and I took it to the Chevy Dealer ship to look at it who confirmed the problem.”

“The contact owned a 2017 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated upon accelerating from a complete stop, another vehicle T-boned the driver side of his vehicle. The contact stated the air bags failed to deploy. The contact stated he and his passenger were transported to the hospital by ambulance. The contact sustained a concussion, broken ribs and bruising as well his passenger sustained back injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot and deemed a total loss. The vehicle was not taken to local dealer for diagnoses. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage 22,000.”

“The center row passenger side Seat belt buckle plug cover fell off. No accident took place. We tried to plug in the buckle and the cover fell off which made the plug ineffective. Could have been harmful had it disassembled during an accident”

“The drivers side seatbelt is no longer working at all. The latch does not lock into the piece at the bottom of the driver side seat. The red piece you push to unlock the seatbelt doesn't move.”
