Common Problems with the 2017 Cadillac CTS

2017 cadillac cts problems

Electrical System Issues:

“our 2017 Cadillac CTS-V has all of a sudden a cracked CUE screen. The car is garage kept and only has 14395 miles. It just spontaneously cracked. The dealer that is fixing it is making us pay $125 deductible to get it fixed even though there is a class action law suit currently for others that have this same issue. The whole CUE screen cracks in a spider web like formation and makes the screen very difficult to read.”

“While the touchtone screen has failed twice and Cadillac has replaced it more important than that is the fact that the car was ordered with the carbon fiber wheel package and those wheels have cracked/ cant hold air pressure the dealer has replaced one but said they cannot replace the set of 4- my daughter has had 4 issues of tires going flat while driving- fortunately she has not had an accident yet but this is a severe safety issue that Cadillac doesn't want to resolve is there a recall or safety issue with these carbon fiber rims? my daughter no longer feels that the vehicle is safe and does not want to get in an accident wh she or someone else gets hurt - please help!”

Powertrain, Transmission Problems:

“Transmission shudders when it shifts. Dealer changed the fluid. Seems like it helped a little. We shall see.....”

“I purchased the 2017 Cadillac CTS off the showroom used with just under 9000 miles. I didn't test drive it, considering that I had been test driving the same year and model for 2 weeks and it was in the center of the showroom floor. What could be wrong with it at that low mileage, right?

Well, I signed off on all papers and drove it home to find out that the transmission was shuddering and shifting weird. I went the next day (a holiday weekend) and mentioned it to them. They said since it was Sunday, service wasn't open, and to call Monday. The service guy came and picked it up, and gave me a loaner. I've read several issues on this transmission problem the day after buying it and have told the dealer to put me in something else without an 8 speed transmission, since it's a GM transmission issue affecting several different models with the same transmission.

The sales manager said he would need to talk to his GM. Since then, the service department called and they offered to change and flush the transmission fluid. I said that doesn't sound like that fixes the transmission for me to be comfortable keeping the car. Since there have been many complaints, and GM isn't rectifying this to their consumers, I don't feel comfortable with the purchase!”

“I own a 2017 Cadillac CTS with 45,000 km. It has the 8 speed transmission. As long as I have owned this car the transmission has been wonky. I have taken it in to the dealer 3 times to have the transmission serviced, which I feel needs to be replaced, and each time it came back with a clean bill of health. They have replaced the converter and the valve body which made no difference. They also did a software upgrade and a flush which made little difference. Being a Cadillac I have certain expectations from this car which are not being met. I owned a 2007 CTS prior to this and it was trouble free which is why I purchased another Caddy. In my opinion this transmission is nothing more than a boat anchor and is seriously altering my opinion of Cadillacs. Has anyone else experienced the same issues as me with a similar Caddy? Was there a solution offered? It is my understanding a class action lawsuit is being prepared in the U.S. for this same problem.”

“The car has 37250 miles on it. 6 months ago, it started shifting roughly between 1st and 2nd gear. We took it to waldorf Cadillac/GM in waldorf, md. They acknowledged it was a known issue and would take the following steps: Flush the transmission, reprogram the transmission, replace the valve, and ultimately, replace the transmission. They have done all the actions except replace the transmission and won't take further action. The car shifts so violently at times that you don't know if you're going to hit the car in front of you. We live in the Washington DC area, so traffic is usually stop-and-go. When the car gets to the top end of 1st gear (around 9 mph) it hesitates, then slams into second gear. It has also gotten "stuck" in first gear, while turning onto a street. The engine accelerated but the car wouldn't shift so I had to pull off immediately or risk being hit by oncoming traffic. It has only done this once since we started having problems.”

Steering Problems:

“The contact owns a 2017 Cadillac Cts. The contact received a recall notification for NHTSA campaign number: 19V086000 (steering) and stated that the repair exceeded a reasonable amount of time. Fitzgerald Chevrolet (114 baughmans lane, frederick, md 21702) confirmed that parts were not available to perform the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.”
